SAGE Journals Migration to Atypon

Important updates for the upcoming SAGE Journals platform migration
This is a reminder that SAGE Journals is moving to Atypon’s Literatum online publishing platform. Visit our information page to learn more!

Key details you need to know:

  • Our estimated ‘go live’ date is planned for December 2016.
  • URLs for our platform, including all journal homepages, will be changing. Permanent redirect URLs will be in place to ensure smooth access to all content on the new site.
  • Exciting new usage report features will be available including timelier availability (at the beginning of each month) and the ability to receive alerts when new usage data is available.
  • Account Administrators for SAGE Journals subscriptions will be provided with a detailed checklist in advance of the platform migration to ensure a seamless transition--separate messaging is being sent to these contacts.
  • SAGE will be scheduling a series of webinars, hosted by our Library Relations team, prior to and during the migration. Further webinar details will be sent out in the coming months.
  • By now you may have seen the recent press release announcing Wiley's acquisition of Atypon. Our migration work continues uninterrupted.

SAGE Publishing hires Ian Mulvany to engage with Big Data and Social Research

Ian Mulvany, previously of eLife, joins SAGE Publishing in September as Head of Product Innovation in order to develop digital products and services that respond to new methodological challenges facing social scientists in a world of big data.  SAGE is excited by changes in the research landscape as a result of the availability of varied, vast datasets that can be used by researchers to provide insights into the social world. Mulvany will be actively shaping product strategy and development, driving product innovation beyond our traditional publishing.

SAGE is the world's 5th largest journals publisher. Our portfolio now includes more than 950 journals spanning the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technology, and Medicine, and more than 400 are published on behalf of learned societies and institutions.

SAGE content in the Journal Citation Reports®

SAGE has increased its number of ranked titles to a total of 548, with 5 of those journals receiving their first impact factor this year.

SAGE remains the market leader (by number of ranked titles) in seven social science categories, including: Criminology & Penology; Education, Special; Industrial Relations & Labor; Social Issues; Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary; Sociology; and Urban Studies.

SAGE journals ranked in the 2015 Journal Citation Report (Thomson Reuters, 2016)

With 548 journals now ranked in the JCR, SAGE continues to experience consistent growth within the reports, achieving a 42% increase over the past five years. In this year’s reports, over 100 SAGE journals have received a top 10 category rank, with 5 journals receiving their first Impact Factor (IF). 242 titles are now placed in the top 30% of the JCR, and 55% of SAGE journals are ranked within the top half of their subject category.

Adam Matthew

Adam Matthew sign agreement to publish its first digital World War II collection

Adam Matthew is proud to announce its most recent project collaboration - with The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. The single archive project will cover personal experiences during the Second World War and also touch upon those specific to New Orleans. The new resource will reveal how the war changed American culture and society on a very personal level via HD video oral histories, 3D objects and personal collections.

Scholars will be able to search topics such as supply and logistics, rationing, medical services, the role of women, African Americans and Asian Americans in the war effort. The project will have a particular focus on how the war changed American society and the economy, how it impacted individuals and families, demobilisation and the legacy of the war in human terms.

This new collection will complement Adam Matthew’s First World War Portal and American History, 1493-1945.

Shakespeare’s Globe archive to be digitized

Adam Matthew and Shakespeare’s Globe have announced that they are collaborating on a landmark digital project: ‘Shakespeare’s Globe: Performances and Practices.’ This major agreement will see the digitization of the majority of Shakespeare’s Globe’s archives, preserved since its opening in 1997. The collection will include an array of essential material for the study of Shakespeare, literature, theatre and performance, and will publish in spring 2019, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Globe’s founder, Sam Wanamaker, providing students and scholars with unrivalled behind-the-scenes access to the world’s most famous theatre.
