The career path within Acquisitions may include Editorial Assistants, Associate Editors, Publishing Editors, Acquisitions Editors, Executive Editors, Editorial Directors and Publishers.

Editorial positions are rewarding and fulfilling and provide the opportunity to support those at the leading edge of their academic discipline to deliver new knowledge globally.

Marketing/Sales
For some professionals in publishing, marketing and sales is the most exciting and dynamic phase of the process. Marketing and selling academic and professional books and/or journals involves many activities, functions and responsibilities. Significant effort goes into marketing research, planning, management, direct mail promotions, renewals, sales, advertising, conventions, subscriptions, reprints and permissions, distribution rights, and telemarketing. Marketing managers, graphic artists and marketing support are needed to strategically and effectively communicate product information to the appropriate marketplace. Sales professionals actively identify and respond to the needs of our customers. SAGE meets the challenges of the ever changing marketing landscape by employing cutting edge technology practices for our varied products thereby enhancing usage and advancing sales.

Corwin Press
With focus on the PreK-12 education market, Corwin Press has distinct Editorial, Marketing and Sales departments. Editors and their support staff oversee the development of peer-reviewed publications that range from very practical, experience-based manuals to more reflective or research-based books. Marketing professionals plan and implement specific direct mail, Internet, advertising, and public relations activities targeted to district and school professionals at one end of the continuum, and to teacher educators and advanced-level students at the other. Graphic designers develop books covers, product packaging, and all marketing and sales materials. In-house sales representatives provide one-to-one solutions to volume purchasers through their relationship-building sales efforts via telephone and convention exhibits. Editorial, Marketing and Sales all collaborate to achieve the Corwin Press mission of helping PreK-12 educators do their work better.

Production
Books and journals go through a critical production process. The Production Staff is responsible for overseeing the preparation of manuscripts including copy editing typesetting, and proofreading and serve as the company’s liaison with authors during the production process. Management roles within production ensure all primary functions of copyediting, prepress production, printing, binding and fulfillment take place on time and within budget.
